IGLLS Band

Well, here we go again!

Hope your week has gone well. I've been practicing on my trombone and used it to play along on a couple of hymns for my church's online worship.  5th graders, how are the solos coming?  I'd love to hear you when you think you are ready to send me a video.  6th graders, how are your hymn projects coming?  As I said, the hardest part is to get started.  Remember flutes just have to write their part up an octave. Clarinets go up 1 whole step and Horns go up 5 whole steps.  Remember that your key has changed from the original.  Send me your hymns however you can and I'll let you know how you did.

Remember, if you think you have your current lesson pages sounding good, you can always move ahead in your book. If you are able, record your songs and send them to my email box. I promise to let you know how you did.

Thanks for keeping up your practicing and hope to see you soon!

Have fun,

Mr. Rutt

I have certainly missed seeing all of you at your lessons but am glad you are all safe at home.  This is a good time to catch up on your practicing. Remember you can also play pages in your lesson book that you've played before. Sometimes those are more fun to play than your current ones When i practice, that's sort of what I do.  Play some of my favorites and also try some new stuff. Of course I also like to do lots of long tones and practice scales. The better I know them, the easier my songs are that are in those keys.

Remember, if you think you have your current lesson pages sounding good, you can always move ahead in your book. If you are able, record your songs and send them to my email box or message me on our IGLLS Band webpage. I promise to let you know how you did.

Thanks for keeping up your practicing and hope to see you soon!

Have fun,

Mr. Rutt

Lesson Books going well

Saturday, March 14, 2020 by Tom Rutt | Uncategorized

We are back into our lesson books.  Please remember to bring them to lessons. We had a couple people forget theirs. When you practice, start with your warm-up or something fun you like to play.  There are also extra things to practice in the back of your book, so don't forget to work on those scales and "Excellerators."  And when you are done practicing, find a song you like and finish with that. Band is fun, so have fun playing your instrument.

No lessons on Monday due to no school. Thursday afternoon lessons are on Wed. as I'll be judging at the MS 7/8 Solo Ensemble Festival.

5th Grade band is Tuesday/Thursday at the MS.  6th grade band at the MS is on Wed/Fri.

Have fun,

Mr. Rutt
